Art conservator-restorer: a profession combining passion and exacting standards

Yolaine Voltz is a Maître Artisan d’Art, recipient of the Médaille de l’Excellence de l’Artisanat d’Art in 2023 and winner of the first prize for Entreprise d’Artisanat d’Art in 2019. In 2025, she represented excellence in French craftsmanship alongside the Maîtres d’Art at the France Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. Selected and supported by Maison Cartier, she exhibited at Homo Faber 2026, where she gave demonstrations of fan conservation and restoration. That same year, she became a laureate of the Fondation Rémy Cointreau.

She brings her scientific, technical and artistic expertise exclusively to globes and fans. As she says, «It is never too late to restore them!» At her studio, L’Utile Zéphyr, she combines the latest advances in conservation-restoration with traditional techniques to provide the best possible care for the works entrusted to her.

The studio takes its name from one of the terms used in eighteenth-century France for fans. Zephyr is the personification of the gentle west wind in Greek mythology…
